Common space, individual safety
The modern, lockable Smart Bike Box (SBB) bike shelter from SCON is an innovative solution dedicated to conscious bicycle and e-bike users, combining safety, convenience, and modern technology. It addresses the growing needs of city dwellers who expect a safe and functional place to store their bikes outside their homes, at work, while shopping, or while running errands at public institutions. Its modular solution and specific features, which enable integration with other SCS system modules, set the shelter apart from the competition. Equipped with magnetic locks and systems that allow for opening using an app
or a received code. Each bike is locked in an individual section, accessible only by the bicycle owner, increasing user safety and comfort. Additionally, the sections will be equipped with electrical outlets for charging e-bikes and hanging helmets. Monitoring is available to online app users, enabling real-time event tracking
and server recording, allowing for identification in the event of a break-in or theft.
Sensors and alarms detect unauthorized access and immediately trigger an audible alarm and a user notification in the app. Security features detect attempts to tamper with the lock or forcefully open it.
Technological Features and Mobile App
A simple and intuitive reservation process for a specific period of time using the mobile app. Users can check real-time availability of a free space and identify available sections for bicycle parking in a given location.
Payment options include online payment for parking, a monthly subscription, or a one-time payment. Users can receive notifications via the mobile app when a space becomes available, their reservation expires, or their rental period ends. User account personalization, including data and preferences storage in the system. Each shelter will be individually equipped with an e-bike charging point, powered by the city grid or, alternatively, by solar panels located on the roof of the shelter. When users select the electric bike charging option, they will have real-time insight into the bike's battery charge status using the app and will also be able to extend their rental period.
Advertising and city information. The shelter will be equipped with screens displaying advertisements, information about city events, or weather data. It will also be a space for promoting local businesses or environmental programs related to the sustainable development of city infrastructure.
GREEN ROOFS AS A RESPONSE TO URBAN CONCRETE
Faced with rapid urbanization and the associated loss of green spaces, cities are seeking innovative solutions that will increase the presence of vegetation in urban spaces. "Green roofs are one such solution that combines the functionality of public infrastructure with ecological, aesthetic, and social benefits.
These roofs consist of several layers: a waterproofing membrane, a protective layer, a soil substrate, and plants (e.g., succulents, mosses, grasses).
The Problem of Green Space Deficit in Cities
Intensive urban development is reducing the availability of natural green spaces such as parks and squares.
Urban Heat Island Effect:
Concrete and asphalt surfaces heat up faster than green spaces, leading to rising temperatures in cities.
Air Quality:
The lack of sufficient vegetation reduces the natural ability of cities to filter air pollutants.
Benefits of "green" roofs
Ecological
a) Improved air quality:
Rooftop plants absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) and particulate matter (PM), reducing air pollution. Increased oxygen production in densely built-up urban areas.
b) Stormwater retention:
Green roofs retain rainwater, reducing the load on municipal sewage systems
during heavy rainfall.
c) Biodiversity:
Creating habitats for insects such as bees, butterflies, and ladybugs, which are crucial to the urban ecosystem.
Climatic
a) Reduction of the urban heat island effect:
Green roofs lower ambient temperatures through the process of transpiration (evaporation of water from plants).
TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF GREEN ROOF INSTALLATION
Vegetation
a) Species resistant to extreme conditions:
Succulents (e.g., sedum), mosses, and grasses that are resistant to drought and temperature fluctuations.
b) Ease of care:
Plants require minimal maintenance, reducing maintenance costs.
Construction
a) Lightweight and durable:
Roofs must be adequately reinforced to support the weight of the substrate and plants while remaining lightweight.
b) Irrigation systems:
Built-in irrigation systems that automatically supply water to plants during periods of drought.
SYSTEM MODULARITY (SBB AND BS)
SBB modular bicycle shelters are a solution that enables the flexible design, adaptation, and development of bicycle infrastructure in urban spaces. Thanks to their construction comprising repeatable modules, these bus shelters and bicycle shelters offer many benefits for both users and city administrators.
The modular design allows for installation on various-sized plots, road lanes, and even in difficult-to-access locations, such as narrow sidewalks or roadside bays. The vertical arrangement of bicycle storage inside the boxes minimizes the footprint of such a shelter, which is important in city centers. Modules can be added or removed depending on changing demand, for example, in areas with a growing number of cyclists thanks to the use of external modules (operational and advertising), as well as internal modules designed for bicycle storage. Modular shelters can be easily dismantled and moved to another location if the needs of users change.
EXPANDABILITY – SAVING TIME AND COST
As the number of cyclists increases, shelters can be gradually expanded without the need for a complete infrastructure replacement. Modular construction allows for gradual investment, reducing the one-time costs of large projects. Simple modular structures shorten installation time and lower labor costs. Installing modules requires less time and disruption to public spaces compared to traditional structures. Modular shelters use repetitive components, which lowers production costs and allows for faster replacement of missing parts.
EASY MAINTENANCE AND REPLACEMENT OF INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS
Replacing damaged modules is very simple and quick. Damaged components can be easily replaced without disassembling the entire structure. Standardized components and easy access to individual parts enable quick repairs and minimize downtime.
VERSATILITY
Replacing damaged modules is very simple and quick. Damaged components can be easily replaced.
Modules can be equipped with various features, such as e-bike charging stations, LED lighting,
monitoring, or advertising space. Integration with mobile apps, reservation systems, and other Smart City solutions is possible.
AESTHETICS AND DESIGN
Modules with a unified style can be adapted to the city's aesthetic, creating harmonious public spaces. They can be equipped with green roofs, photovoltaic panels, or water retention systems, supporting sustainable urban development.
POSSIBILITY OF CUSTOMIZING SHELTER ELEMENTS
Shelters can be branded with the logo of the city, companies, schools, or institutions supporting the project.
Modular bicycle shelters are a universal, flexible, and economical solution that perfectly fits the needs of modern cities. Thanks to their scalability, easy installation, and integration with smart city technologies, these shelters can support the development of sustainable transport, improve the quality of life of residents, and contribute to environmental protection.
SECURITY SYSTEMS
Locked bicycle shelters in the city center are a modern solution that combines advanced safety technologies, functionality, and aesthetics. These shelters address the growing number of bicycle and e-bike users, as well as the need to provide them with a safe place to store their vehicles. Equipped with anti-theft devices such as electromagnetic locks, video surveillance, and alarm systems, these shelters are an attractive choice for both cyclists and city managers.
DESIGN AND SECURITY
Lockable bicycle lockers:
Each locker has an independent lock with an electromagnetic lock that opens using a PIN code or a mobile app. The structure is made of materials resistant to mechanical damage, such as stainless steel and tempered glass.
24/7 monitoring.
High-resolution IP cameras integrated with the alarm system record images in real time and store them on the server. Access to the preview is available via a mobile app for managers and city services.
Motion sensors and alarms
Sensors detect unauthorized attempts to open the lockers or tamper with the locks. Audible and visual alarms triggered in the event of suspected theft.
Technology and functionality
A mobile app that allows users to reserve a parking space, check availability, and locate the nearest shelter in the area. Touchless remote control for opening and closing the spaces.
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (SOFTWARE, MOBILE APP, DEVELOPER MODE)
Thanks to the dedicated mobile app for the SCON system, users will have access to many useful account management features.
